About
Why VerifyAge exists.
VerifyAge started from a simple observation: the age-verification market sells KYC onboarding platforms to stores that just need a checkout gate. A vape shop doing a few hundred checkouts a month was being quoted enterprise identity pricing for a yes/no question.
So we built the checkout-scoped answer: a drop-in widget and a REST API that does one job — verify age at the point of sale — at $0.15 a check with no minimums.
We stay in our lane on purpose. VerifyAge provides the check mechanism; the merchant owns compliance in their jurisdiction. We'll tell you exactly what each method can and cannot prove, and we won't sell you a platform you don't need.
What we won't do
- The dob and self_declaration methods are check mechanisms, not legal proof of age in most regulated contexts.
- Document and estimation checks run through a connected verification provider. Until a live provider account is connected, sessions run through a sandbox provider and every result is labeled a simulation — sandbox results are not real verifications.
- The merchant remains responsible for legal compliance in their jurisdiction — thresholds, acceptable methods, and record-keeping vary by state and product category.
